Guide to setting up VoiceOver on iOS
Multi Language Speech
I use German and English voices on my phone. But the automatic language detection is not very reliable. Especially for wrongly tagged apps and so on. So I deactivate that:
Deactivating Automatic Language Detection
To turn off automatic language detection in VoiceOver:
- Open Settings
- Navigate to Accessibility
- Tap VoiceOver
- Tap Speech
- Turn off Detect Languages

Adding Voices to the Rotor
To add additional language voices to the VoiceOver rotor for quick switching:
- Open Settings
- Navigate to Accessibility
- Tap VoiceOver
- Tap Speech
- Under Rotor Languages, tap Add New Language
- Choose your desired language
- Select a voice for that language
Once added, you can rotate the rotor to "Voices" and swipe up or down to switch between your configured languages while reading.

Adding a Second Voice to Speech Options
To add an additional voice that you can switch between using the rotor:
- Open Settings
- Navigate to Accessibility
- Tap VoiceOver
- Tap Add Rotor Voice
- Choose a voice from the available options
- The voice will now appear in your rotor options
You can add multiple voices and use the rotor to quickly switch between them while using VoiceOver.
