A data protection officer has not been appointed; there is no obligation to appoint one under Art. 37 GDPR or § 38 BDSG.

2. Summary

TactiDesk is freeware and its core features run entirely offline. Screen capture, tactile filtering, and the connection to your tactile display all happen locally on your device — no screen content, focus information, or accessibility data is ever transmitted anywhere.

There is no license activation, no user account, and no payment processing. TactiDesk contains:

3. Screen Capture — Local Only

TactiDesk continuously captures a region of your screen and converts it to a tactile pin pattern. This processing happens exclusively on your device. Captured screen content is held in memory only for the duration of the conversion, is never written to disk by TactiDesk (except when you explicitly save a snapshot yourself), and is never transmitted over any network.

4. Tactile Display Connection

TactiDesk connects to your tactile display (e.g. ABTIM videoTIM5) via USB or Bluetooth. This is a local device-to-device connection. Pairing information is managed by your operating system; TactiDesk transmits only the pin patterns needed to drive the display and receives only key/routing input from the device. No data from this connection leaves your computer.

5. Automatic Update Checks

Automatic update checks depend on the platform:

For the Windows update check, as with any web request, our server (hosted by 1blu GmbH in Germany) sees your IP address and the version information above in its standard server logs. No hardware details, system profile, or personal information are sent. Downloaded updates are verified against an Ed25519 signature before installation.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in distributing security and bug-fix updates). The current version does not offer a setting to disable the automatic update check on Windows.

6. Crash Reports — Only on Your Action

TactiDesk does not send crash reports automatically. If the app crashes, a crash dump may be written locally to your device. It is transmitted only if you actively choose to send it — by attaching it to an email to support@slohmaier.com. You can inspect the file before sending it, and sending is always your decision.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR (consent, given by the act of sending the email). Crash dumps you send are used solely to diagnose the reported problem and are deleted once the issue is resolved.

Because TactiDesk requires no account and performs no license activation, we hold no personal data about you beyond the short-lived standard server logs of update checks (IP address, retained for a limited period for security purposes) and any email correspondence you initiate.

Under the GDPR you have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and to object (Art. 21) to the processing of data held about you.

No automated decision-making or profiling within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR takes place.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany (www.lda.bayern.de).

To exercise your rights, email support@slohmaier.com with the subject “Privacy Request — TactiDesk”. Requests are handled within 30 days.

Any material changes to this policy will be noted on the TactiDesk product page at slohmaier.com/products/tactidesk and in the release notes.
