2. Summary
BrailleKit does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data.
- No telemetry, analytics, or crash reporting
- No account or registration required
- No third-party SDKs or tracking libraries
3. Data Stored Locally
BrailleKit stores your settings locally on your device only:
- Windows: Windows Registry under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BrailleKit - macOS: UserDefaults (standard macOS preferences system)
This data never leaves your device. The following settings are stored:
- Selected Braille table and language
- Output format preferences (Unicode Braille, BRF, ASCII, dots, SimBraille)
- Window position and size
- Last used settings
This data is stored solely to restore your preferences between sessions. It can be deleted at any time by uninstalling the application or by manually removing the registry entries (Windows) or running defaults delete (macOS).
4. File System Access
BrailleKit accesses files only when you explicitly open or save them:
- Read access to documents you open (EPUB, DOCX, Markdown, TXT) for conversion to Braille
- Write access to locations you choose for saving Braille output files
Documents are processed in memory and are never stored beyond the current session.
5. In-App Purchases
BrailleKit offers an in-app purchase for the Document Conversion feature, handled entirely by the platform store:
- Microsoft Store handles purchases on Windows
- Apple App Store handles purchases on macOS
BrailleKit itself does not process any payment information. It only checks the local purchase status provided by the platform store. No purchase data is transmitted to the developer. Please refer to Microsoft’s or Apple’s privacy policies for details on how they handle purchase data.
6. No Network Access
BrailleKit’s core functionality requires no internet connection. All Braille translation happens entirely on your device. There are no update checks, license validations, or remote features beyond the platform store’s purchase verification.
7. Your Rights
Since BrailleKit does not collect personal data, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. All stored settings remain on your device under your full control. If you have questions, contact admin@slohmaier.com.
8. Changes to This Policy
Any material changes to this policy will be noted on the BrailleKit product page at slohmaier.com/products/braillekit.
